A Yemenia Airbus 310 jet carrying 153 passengers crashed into the sea early Tuesday as it was attempting to land in very strong winds. The crash was a few miles off the Island Nation of Comoros where the flight was scheduled to land. The plane was an aging Airbus 310 an flying the last leg of a Yemenia airlines flight from Paris and Marseille to the Comoros, which had stopped in Yemen to change planes. The plane had been reported to have had equipment faults. Bahia Bakari, a 14 year old girl, is the sole survivor of this deadly crash. She held onto a piece of the plane from 1:30a.m. until 3;00p.m. the next day when she was rescued. The young girl is described as fragile and can barely swim. She was ejected and found herself beside the plan where

Quote:
"She couldn't feel anything, and found herself in the water. She heard people speaking around her but she couldn't see anyone in the darkness," Bakari said on France's RTL radio. "She's a very timid girl, I never thought she would escape like that."

The girl is said to be doing well at the hospital and more details will be released later today on her condition.

Passengers have long complained about Yemenia flights sayint that there are not enough seatbelts and often times the flights are so overbooked that passengers are made to stand on flights.
