Senator Ted Kennedy Dies At Age 77

Senator Ted Kennedy passed away just before midnight on Tuesday evening in his home in Hyannis Port Mass, after a year long battle with brain cancer. He had recently become very ill in the past couple of days which prevented him from returning to Washinton to join in the debate over the healthcare reform, an issue which he was very passionate about. The Kennedy family announced his death early Wednesday morning saying

"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," the Kennedy family said in a statement. "He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it."

Kennedy was diagnosed with a malignant brain in May of 2008. He had a successful brain surgery soon after that. While Kennedy was attending the luncheon for the inauguration of President Obama he had a seizure. Kennedy joined the senate in 1962 at the age of 30. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.
