The show from last night starts out with a patient coming in who has been stabbed in the back and I believe his spinal chord was punctured. He is an inmate who is on death row for murdering women. He explains how he had slashed their necks and killed just because he wanted to, he doesn't seem to feel guilty about it. Immediately he offends Derek by saying that the two of them are alike in that people are alive when they meet them but somehow that all changes. The patient keeps asking for more morphine and Meredith has sympathy for him and gives him more even after Derek had told her not to. In this episode the argument between Meredith and Cristina is continuing and things are awkward between them. Izzie decides to tell Alex about Denny because Alex had told her that he loves her and she thinks it is time to tell him. He basically looks at Izzie like she is a little crazy and tells her to tell him hi for him. Miranda and Dr. Kenley tell Alex to take special care of a boy who they have been treating for the past three years. Dr. Kenley has a heart attack and dies suddenly. Dr. Robbins is his replacement and after opening up the boy for surgery finds that he hasn't had the proper treatment and wants him on the liver donation list. Miranda is upset that she is questioning the current treatment the boy had been having but eventually accepts the other doctors decisions. At the end of the episode Derek comes home and explains to Meredith why he was so upset with the death row patient. He explains to her that his father was murdered by two men because he wouldn't give up his watch. He then says "As doctors, we're supposed to treat everyone the same, but they're not all the same."
