Gran Torino is a 2008 American drama film directed by, produced by and starring Clint Eastwood as Walt Kowalski. The film features a predominantly Hmong cast, as well as Eastwood's younger son, Scott Eastwood.

Disgruntled Korean War vet Walt Kowalski sets out to reform his neighbor, Thao, a young Hmong teenager, who tried to steal, under pressure from his gang member cousin, Kowalski's prized possession 1972 Gran Torino. Drawn against his will into the life of Thao's family, Kowalski is soon taking steps to protect them from the gangs that infest their neighborhood. It is rated R for language throughout, and some violence.

I thought this movie was really good, even though it had rough language throughout the entire movie, tuff gang members, and it was sad at the end.

After watching the previews I went into this movie thinking that I would probably not like it much. To my surprise I really liked, though I know what you mean about the violence and fowl language and stuff, but I thought the movie sent a good message. Is it still in theatres or has it been released on dvd? If so I think I will buy this movie, seems like one I should own.

I went out and saw it last night...it's still out at some movie theaters, but I don't know for how much longer. Gee, it costs 10 bucks for the movie ticket. Much cheaper to wait until it comes out on DVD.

Yeah I agree. I usually don't go to the theater unless it is a movie I have been really really wanting to see. I think it is more comfortable to be home and watch movies. I know what you mean about the rising cost of movie tickets, it is ridiculous. Speaking of which I have two movies over here that I think you would like Slumdog Millionaire, and Seven Pounds.

I recently saw this movie. The ending was sad... I did not expect it to end that way!
