madonna is heading to Malawi this weekend to adopt another child. This time, a girl. officials from Malawi have confirmed that her modonna is adopting a 3-year-old girl named Mercy James. Malawi's Director of Child Welfare Services, Penstone Kilembe, says "The adoption is going ahead. It has been at an advanced stage for some time."

According to officials, Mercy James is from the "Mchinji Home of Hope orphanage. She has no father and mother, they both died…We finished the assessment yesterday in readiness for the courts next week." with no parents alive, this adoption should be less complicated for madonna. madonna is due in court this Monday, though none of her reps have yet commented on the situation.

Are Madonna and Angelina in some sort of contest to see who can adopt the most babies or something ?

I understand they want to help these kids, but sheesh. Talk about divided attention, it's going to end up being like a rich orphanage sooner or later.

What happens 30 years from now when they die and the biological siblings want to start a legal war over who gets their stuff ?
Then again, that ought to be pretty entertaining.

So I thought that Madonna's two children were her own. I did not know that she has adopted before. Angelina has adopted three I think. I'm happy for these children to be finding a home, although I think Madonna would be kind of a weird mom...

this will be madonna's 4th child. she has 2 that are her own and one she adopted. lourdes, rocco and david are her 3 kids and david was adopted from malawi. i agree that madonna would be a weird mom. she is like dating guys that are as old as her daughter. gross.

Apparently she bribed the people she got her first adopted child from in order to bypass the waiting period everyone else has to go through and there's some people who remember that and aren't happy about this round.

I guess a public figure that's had as much exposure as Madonna should be able to bypass waiting periods.
Afterall the waiting period is designed to give everyone a chance to look into the adopters past and make sure they're not just going to sell the child on the black market or something.

Then again, someone out there had to say "It's ok, we all know Madonna well enough to let her bypass the waiting period", which is kinda scary.

Yeah I agree I don't think that the rules should be bent for certain people. It does seem a little scary. How come everyone is so against her adopting another child? I would think it would be good for that child to be raised by Madonna.

In all seriousness, Madonna is probably a better parent than a at least some, if not a lot, of people who adopt childeren.

Didn't she go through some sort of mid-life crisis a few years ago and calm down a lot ?

I've met a few adopted people through my life that I couldn't help thinking would have been better off not having been adopted by who adopted them. One of them snapped and woke his adopted father up with a knife to his throat in the middle of the nite because of how unhappy he was.

Denied !

Quote:
Madonna is throwing a party in Malawi which is the oddest response to being told you're unfit to adopt, or it's a brilliant last ditch ditch effort to influence the appeal process.

Government officials and staff members of Raising Malawi charity are on the guest list for the event, along with traditional dancers. No word if the judge who denied Madge will attend.

Madonna's lawyer said she will appeal Friday's judgment that she could not adopt a 3-year-old girl because she had not been a resident in Malawi.

This massive party looks like the start of her appeal, at least socially.

Somebody's going to get drunk and sign something at that party. She'll win one way or another.
