Mischa Barton Hospitalized Involuntary Psychiatric Hold

Mischa Barton was hospitalized yesterday on the state's involuntary psychiatric hold. California authorities stated that they feared the actress may end up dead within 24 hours.

“It’s a 24-hour standard for these statues,” said Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist and FOX News contributor. “You have to ask yourself, ‘Would this person die in the next 24 hours?’ They have to be at the brink of complete disaster.”

Mischa Barton, who is 23, was brought to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and can be held involuntarily until up to 72 hours. She was taken there after police were called to her home on Wednesday to assist her with a "medical issue." Rumors have been circulating lately about her possible problems with drugs and alcohol. Last week on the red carpet everyone was talking about how bloated she looked which could be the result. Hope she gets better soon.
