Season 3 American Idol winner Fantasia Borrino overdosed on drugs possibly a “bottle of aspirin” and has been hospitalized in North Carolina. The police have reported her condition as a “suicide/overdose” and say that she may have suffered “possible internal injuries.” Barrino has had some ups and downs in her career since winning American Idol. Her album sales have not been as good as other American Idol winners and in 2009 there were rumors that her house was in foreclosure. Most recently she has been making headlines over her relationship with a married man named Antwaun Cook. The day of the overdose Barrino had read court complaint from Paula Cook the man’s wife that Barrino carried on a year-long affair with her husband. Her manager Brian Dickens said that “Fantasia fell in love with Mr. Cook and believed that he loved her.” He also went on to say “Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused,” Dickens said in a written statement to CNN. “Yesterday, she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention.”

Country singer and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood 27, married her hockey player boyfriend Mike Fisher 30, who plays for the Ottawa Senators in Georgia on Saturday. The ceremony was held at The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia. Security at the wedding was very tight and among some of the 250 guests there were some big names there which included Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul. Carrie wore Chantilly lace dress created for her by Monique Lhuillier. The couple reportedly left Sunday morning to go on a romantic honeymoon in a secret location. The couple plan to live in Nashville and in Peterborough, Ontario. Congrats!

Ryan Seacrest 35 from American Idol, and Julianne Hough 21 from Dancing With the Stars are trying to keep quiet their rumored relationship but sources close to them are saying otherwise and that “things have gotten more serious over the last month.” The two have been spotted together numerous times over the past month. They were spotted together with their arms around each other on the beach in Malibu and also dining at L.A.’s Red O restaurant and shopping together at Alice + Olivia. Seacrest also flew into Nashville to see Hough perform at the CMA Music Festival on June 11, reported AceShowBiz. Looks like things are heating up for the unlikely pair.

Brett Michaels returned to the stage Friday night in Biloxi, MS after just a month ago he was hospitalized for suffering from a brain hemorrhage. He performed in front of 1,400 fans at the Hard Rock Casino and seemed to be in good health. Michaels strutted across the stage with a slight limp but was still able to give an energetic performance. Michaels said to the crowd before performing “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “I can’t say this is true yet, cause I don’t know. Next year they asked me to possibly be the judge on ‘American Idol.’” So it looks like Brett is in the running to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol though Fox is not commenting on any speculation regarding Simon’s replacement.

The shy guy who worked at the paint store won over America and became the ninth season winner of American Idol. At the beginning of the season DeWyze was real fidgety and reserved and when he sang he almost seemed slightly embarassed at the end of his performances. He beat out Crystal Bowersox who was favored to win for most of the season. Critics are saying that Crystal far out sang Lee throughout the competition and on Tuesday night. The ninth season also seemed a bit like a season finale because it was judge Simon Cowell’s last night on the show. He is moving on to become an executive producer and will appear on a new singing competition, “The X Factor,” also on Fox. Congrats to Lee DeWyze! I am sure that Crystal Bowersox will go on to become very successful as well.

After the surprising news that Paula Abdul will not be returning this season as a judge on “American Idol”, now comes the even more surpising news of who will be replacing her! Talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres will be joining Simon, Randy, and Kara to judge this season. Ellen will begin after the audition rounds which have featured some other celebrities as guest judges including Shania Twain, Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Joe Jonas and Kristin Chenoweth. Ellen is very excited and has been quoted as saying “I’m going to have a day job and a night job” and her “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will continue as usual. I think this is very exciting news! Paula Abdul will not be returning to Season 9 of American Idol. She took to her twitter account to say “With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to Idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenom”. Kara DioGuardi has renewed her contract and will be returning, so it looks like the show is back down to three judges. Fox did not want to give Paula the pay raise she was requesting. We will miss you Paula!

On March 10, 2009 American Idol kicked off with a Michael Jackson themed show. This year we were surprised with the judges narrowing it down to the final 13 instead of the usual final 12. The judges revealed tonight that next wednesday two contestants will be sent home. The judges sure had their favorites tonight with Simon saying that Danny Goke reminded him of “Michael McDonald — you’re a white man with soul.” And Paula saying to Adam Lambert “I’m going to go out on a limb and say you’re on your way to the finals.”

This year American Idol decided to do the show a little differently. In the past it was narrowed down to twelve contestants. This year the show held a “wild card” night where singers were brought back after being eliminated and given a second chance. This year it came down to a final 13. They are ANOOP DESAI, MEGAN JOY CORKREY, MATT GIRAUD, JASMINE MURRAY, LIL ROUNDS, SCOTT MACINTYRE, JORGE NUÑEZ, DANNY GOKEY, ALLISON IRAHETA, KRIS ALLEN, ALEXIS GRACE, ADAM LAMBERT, and MICHAEL SARVER.
